UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's lacrosse graduate attackman TJ Malone was drafted by the Maryland Whipsnakes in the third round with the 17th overall pick in the 2024 Premier Lacrosse League College Draft on Tuesday night.
Malone has been one of the top scoring leaders in Penn State program history with 150 goals and 98 assists in 66 games played, He is a two-time Tewaaraton nominee, two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, USILA All-America selection, Inside Lacrosse All-American, and a two-time Big Ten honoree. Malone currently sits fourth in the nation in points per game at 5.29 while tallying 40 goals and 34 assists for 74 points which is a career-high.
The West Chester, Pa. native becomes the 19th student-athlete in program history to be drafted in the PLL or Major League Lacrosse Drafts. The last Nittany Lion to get drafted in the PLL Draft was Mac O'Keefe in the 2021 draft by the Chaos.
Penn State returns to action on Sunday, May 12 when they travel to Washington, D.C. to take on Georgetown in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Game-time is set for 2:30 p.m.
