Lady Lions Head Coach Kieger Promotes Adrienne Motley to Assistant Coach

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State women's basketball head coach Carolyn Kieger announces Adrienne Motley as an assistant coach. Motley served as the director of player development for the Lady Lions in the 2023-24 campaign, their most successful season in almost a decade. The basketball veteran rounds out Kieger's staff of assistant coaches.
 
Motley is a graduate of the University of Miami where she played under Kieger during her assistant coaching stint with the Hurricanes. During her four years at Miami, she was a starter for the Hurricanes since her freshman year. She compiled 1,844 points in 129 games while earning a slew of accolades throughout the years. Motley earned four consecutive All-ACC honors including two selections to the first team. She was an honorable mention All-American and was also a Regional Finalist for the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association post season honors. In her final collegiate season, Motley garnered the Senior CLASS Award. 
 
The Virginia native was drafted in the 2017 WNBA draft in the third round, 32nd overall pick to the Indiana Fever. Shortly after, Motley played professionally overseas for six years in Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Slovakia and Romania. 
 
Her final international season in 2022-23 before arriving in Happy Valley, was spent playing for the Rapids in the National Romanian Basketball League. She totaled 370 points, 126 rebounds, 97 assists and 34 steals, playing in 22 games. 
 
After a successful career overseas, Motley returned to the states to serve as the Director of Player Development for Penn State in the 2023-24 season.
