Kitching Moves to NCAA 800-Meter Final with Semifinal Heat Win

EUGENE, Ore. Hayley Kitching's 800-meter performance highlighted day two of competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the Penn State track & field team. Kitching won her semifinal heat on Thursday in Hayward Field, advancing to the 800-meter final with a 2:01.47 qualifying mark.

The Coffs Harbour, Australia native will compete in the NCAA Final in the 800-meter run once again, as she placed fourth in Division I in the event in March at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Boston. Thursday night, Kitching made a strong closing move to win her heat in 2:01.47 and grab an automatic qualifying time for Saturday's final.

ALL-AMERICAN FINISHES

In just her third-ever 10K, Florence Caron ran a 33:26.98 to finish 14th in Division I in the event. The two-time Big Ten Champion collected Second Team All-America recognition for her efforts Thursday night and wraps up her first season as a Nittany Lion with two All-America citations and two conference titles in distance events.
