Janecke Earns Academic All-America Nod

First CSC Academic All-America honor in her career

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State women's ice hockey forward Tessa Janecke was named to the CSC Academic All-America First Team, the organization announced Tuesday.

Janecke collects her first CSC Academic All-America honor following an excellent sophomore campaign on the ice and in the classroom where she accumulated a 3.62 GPA in her nutrition major.

Her 2023-24 campaign was one for the record books. Janecke became the fastest player in program history to hit 100 career points after posting 17 goals and a career-high 36 assists for a team leading 53 points.

The Orangeville, Ill. native was named an CCM/AHCA second-team All-American and USCHO second-team All-American after a career year. Her sophomore season consisted of being named first-team All-CHA, CHA Player of the Year, and Forward of the Year, and finished the regular season as the leagues scoring champion. In conference play alone, she racked up a total of 35 points off 12 goals and a league leading 23 assists.

She was named CHA Forward of the Week four times and CHA Forward of the Month three times. She also tallied two hat-tricks this season coming against Lindenwood and Dartmouth. On the year, Janecke sat tied for eighth in the nation while she led the nation in faceoff wins with 630 and was tied for fourth in assists. She was also named a Top 10 Patty Kazmaier Award finalist for the first time in her career.
