Two Nittany Lions to Compete in U.S. Amateur

Incoming transfer Alex Creamean and recent graduate Patrick Sheehan set for 124th U.S. Amateur

CHASKA, Minn. – Penn State men’s golf incoming sophomore transfer Alex Creamean and recent graduate Patrick Sheehan will represent the Nittany Lions in the U.S. Amateur Championship this week.

The 124th U.S. Amateur Championship, scheduled for Aug. 12-18, will be played at the Hazeltine National Golf Club and Chaska Town Course in Chaska, Minn. Creamean is set to tee off on Monday, Aug. 12, at 8 a.m. ET/7 a.m. CT at Chaska Town Course, while Sheehan is slated to tee off at 8:22 a.m. ET/7:22 a.m. CT at Hazeltine National Golf Club.

Creamean earned his spot in the U.S. Amateur field following a July 24 qualifier at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Ill. Sheehan will compete in the U.S. Amateur for the third-straight year after winning the 111th Pennsylvania Amateur Championship at Huntingdon Valley Country Club on July 31 in Huntingdon Valley, Pa.

Creamean will enter his first season in the Blue & White in 2024-25 after spending the first year of his collegiate career at Bucknell where he was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year. Sheehan wrapped up his stellar five-year career as a Nittany Lion in 2023-24 after earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Penn State. Sheehan was a three-time GCAA All-Region and four-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree for the Nittany Lions.
