UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men’s basketball team will face Fordham to open the 2024 Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach, Fla. on Nov. 25, as matchups were announced for the Thanksgiving-week tournament Thursday morning.
The Nittany Lions and Rams will square off at 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 25, from the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. Penn State and Fordham will meet for the first time since 2014 in a series that dates back to 1907. The Nittany Lions own a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series and haven’t lost to the Rams since 1932.
Penn State will then face either Clemson or San Francisco on Tuesday, Nov. 26, with the Sunshine Slam’s third-place game set for 1:30 p.m. and the championship contest slated for 4 p.m. Clemson advanced to the Elite Eight of last season’s NCAA Tournament, while San Francisco made an NIT appearance a season ago.
The Nittany Lions will also host Purdue Fort Wayne inside the Bryce Jordan Center on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in a Sunshine Slam on-campus matchup between the Ocean and Beach brackets.

The 2024-25 Nittany Lions
The Nittany Lions enter their second season under Peter and Ann Tombros Endowed Head Coach Mike Rhoades in 2024-25. Rhoades guided the Nittany Lions to the second-most Big Ten wins by a first-year head coach in program history during his first season in 2023-24. Penn State returns nearly 60 percent of is scoring production from a season ago as five key players return, headlined by reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Ace Baldwin Jr.
