Gough Signs Professional Contract with Färjestad BK

Gough becomes the third Nittany Lion to sign a professional contract from the 2023-24 roster.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State women's ice hockey graduate Julie Gough signed a professional contract with Färjestad BK of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). Gough becomes the third Nittany Lion from the 2023-24 roster to sign a professional contract.

During her time at Penn State, Gough was a part of all three College Hockey America Regular Season title teams and both CHA Tournament title victories. She skated in a total of 157 games and recorded 45 goals and 33 assists. Gough is a five-time member of the CHA All-Academic Team and a four-time member of the Academic All-Big Ten team.

She delivered Penn State's first CHA championship title win in the 2022-23 season with her overtime goal sending the Nittany Lions to their first NCAA tournament. In last season's CHA championship game, she tallied an assist which aided in Mya Vaslet's game-winning goal to send Penn State back to the NCAA tournament for a second straight year. In the 2023-24 season, she also served as the team’s captain.

Penn State begins the 2024-25 season on Thursday, Sept. 26 when they host Northeastern at Pegula Ice Arena.
