Big Ten Announces 2024-25 Men’s Basketball Conference Schedule

Nittany Lions slated for 10 conference home games, including Palestra game on Jan. 5

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The 2024-25 Penn State men’s basketball schedule is now complete as the Big Ten Conference released the full 20-game slate of league contests Thursday, which includes nine conference matchups in Happy Valley and a “home” date at The Palestra in Philadelphia. The 2024-25 Penn State men’s basketball season is presented by Highmark Health.

Three weekend games inside the Bryce Jordan Center highlight the Nittany Lions' home conference slate, while Penn State will also host Indiana in the historic Palestra on Sunday, Jan. 5.

Tipoff times and network designations for all conference and non-conference games will be announced by the conference office in the coming weeks.

Big Ten play begins with a pair of early-December contests as Penn State opens conference action at home on Thursday, Dec. 5, when defending Big Ten regular-season champion Purdue visits the Bryce Jordan Center. Penn State will then travel to Rutgers on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Following the return to non-conference play and brief breaks for final exams and the holidays, the Nittany Lions return to Big Ten play in earnest on Thursday, Jan. 2, when Penn State hosts Northwestern inside the Bryce Jordan Center.

Penn State makes its return to the historic Palestra on Sunday, Jan. 5, when the Nittany Lions play host to Indiana in the City of Brotherly Love. Penn State has hosted four Big Ten games inside the "Cathedral of College Basketball", defeating Michigan State in 2017, Iowa in 2020, and most recently Michigan in 2024. Penn State has played 62 total games in The Palestra dating back to 1927. The 2024-25 Nittany Lion roster features two student-athletes with Philadelphia-area ties in Zach Hicks (Camden, N.J.; Camden Catholic) and Kachi Nzeh (Upper Darby, Pa.; George School).

Further information and tickets for the Penn State-Indiana game at The Palestra will follow at a later date. 2024-25 men's basketball season ticket holders and Nittany Lion Club members will have first priority to secure tickets for the game at The Palestra.

Following the Palestra game, Penn State returns to the road with a trip to defending Big Ten Tournament champion Illinois on Wednesday, Jan. 8, before returning to the Bryce Jordan Center on Sunday, Jan. 12, to host new conference member Oregon. The Nittany Lions will also host Rutgers (Monday, Jan. 20) and Ohio State (Thursday, Jan. 30) in January, with additional road games during the month slated for Michigan State (Wednesday, Jan. 15), Iowa (Friday, Jan. 24) and Michigan (Monday, Jan. 27).

February begins with a home clash against Minnesota on Tuesday, Feb. 4, before Penn State takes a west-coast swing to visit UCLA (Saturday, Feb. 8) and USC (Tuesday, Feb. 11). The Nittany Lions return to Happy Valley to host back-to-back home games against Washington (Saturday, Feb. 15) and Nebraska (Wednesday, Feb. 19). Following a pair of road tilts at Minnesota (Saturday, Feb. 22) and Indiana (Wednesday, Feb. 26), the Nittany Lions host Maryland on Saturday, March 1 to close out the home slate inside the Bryce Jordan Center. Penn State wraps up the regular season on the road at Wisconsin on Saturday, March 8.

The 2025 Big Ten Tournament will be held March 12-16 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
