UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- The Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey team (4-3, 0-0 B1G), under the guidance of head coach Lisa Bervinchak Love, hosts two games this coming weekend. The Nittany Lions open up Big Ten play on Friday, Sept. 27, when they host Indiana (2-4, 0-1 B1G) at 4 p.m. Two days later, the Lions host Lafayette (5-2*) on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 1 p.m. *Lafayette hosts American on Friday as well.
The Nittany Lions are coming off a 2-1 overtime road win at Bucknell on Sunday. Penn State’s Phia Gladieux scored twice late to lead Penn State to the win, helping the team to its fourth straight victory.
Gladieux leads Penn State with 26 points off 12 goals and two assists. She has scored in all seven games for Penn State this year. Sophia Mannino has five points off two goals and one assist while Julienne van Bekkum has five off one goal and three assists. Penn State freshman goalie Aby Deverka is 2-3 on the year with 39 saves while senior Lauren Delgado is 2-0 in the cage with three saves.
Indiana enters the week with a 2-4 mark. The Hoosiers battled No. 1 Northwestern tough on Sunday in their last outing, dropping a close 1-0 game in Bloomington. Indiana owns wins over Kent State (3-1) and Ball State (2-0). Penn State owns a 28-4 lead in the all-time series with the Hoosiers.
Lafayette, which hosts American on Friday while Penn State hosts Indiana, enters the week with a 5-2 mark. The Leopards beat Holy Cross 3-0 last Friday in their last outing. They also own wins over Vermont (2-1), Delaware (1-0), Dartmouth (3-0) and Quinnipiac (3-2). Penn State has a 21-2 lead in the all-time series.
Penn State begins a four-game road swing next weekend. The Nittany Lions are at Iowa on Friday, Oct. 4, at 5 p.m. and at Northwestern on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 12 p.m.

Penn State trailed homestanding Bucknell into the fourth quarter on Sept. 22 in Lewisburg, 1-0. But senior Phia Gladieux scored twice late to lead the Nittany Lions to a 2-1 come from behind win in overtime. Gladieux tied the game up in the fourth period and then scored just over 1:00 into extra time to carry Penn State to victory.
GLADIEUX NOTCHES 10 POINTS IN TWO GAMES AS LIONS BEAT KENT STATE AND NO. 15 PRINCETON
Senior Phia Gladieux continued to dominate the competition, collecting 10 points in two games as the Nittany Lions won twice over the weekend. Gladieux has now scored in every one of Penn State’s six games. Gladieux scored two goals and had an assist in Penn State’s 4-1 win at Kent State on Friday. Two days later, Penn State welcomed No. 15 Princeton to the Penn State Field Hockey Complex and Gladieux notched five points again. She scored Penn State’s first two goals, both unassisted, to keep PSU close to the Tigers. She then set up
Sophia Mannino’s game winning goal with 1:14 left, getting the assist, in the 3-2 win over the ranked Tigers.

Aby Deverka tallied 14 saves against No. 3 Virginia and No. 10 Syracuse on opening weekend for Penn State, her first collegiate games. Starting from the onset, Deverka had 11 saves against the third-ranked Cavaliers and three against No. 10 Syracuse and was honored as Big Ten Freshman of the Week (9/3/24) to begin the season.

Parking purchased for Stadium West is valid in the Yellow H Shields and Wagner lots beginning at 5 pm on weekdays and all weekend, except when the lot is held for Men’s Hockey games and select other events.
New this year, day of parking will also be available through ParkMobile and Honk, the new on-demand parking provider for campus. There will be NO CASH sales this year. When Field Hockey overlaps with Bryce Jordan Center events at a higher rate, purchases on psu.parkmobile.io will end 2 hours prior to the event, after which the day of price will be the higher of the rates.
