ANNAPOLIS, Md.- The Penn State men’s tennis team concluded its second fall tournament at the Navy Blue Invite, hosted by Navy. The squad played in both doubles and singles matches against Binghamton, Georgetown, Harford CC, Loyola MD, Milligan, Navy, NJIT and Princeton.
Sophomore Nolan Ranger and freshman Shri Murugesan partnered together and captured two wins. The duo defeated Jorge Quintana and Ryan Gill of Loyola MD in a 6-3 match, as well as Milligan’s Ryan Thomas and Michal Curlej, 6-1.
Murugesan, along with freshman Denys Forgaci, led the team with two singles wins. Murugesan secured wins against Charlie Spencer of Navy in a 6-4, 6-3 matchup and Georgetown’s Jacob Mann, 6-3, 6-3. Forgaci captured victories over Navy’s Graydon Buckingham, 7-6(1), 6-2, and Tristan Duval of Harford CC, 6-3, 6-1.
Up next, four Nittany Lions will travel to the ITA Regionals in Philadelphia, Pa. The tournament is set to begin on Thursday Oct. 17 and conclude on Monday Oct. 21.
