HISTORY
- Penn State is facing UConn for the eighth time in program history.
- UConn currently leads the series 4-0-3 with the last meeting occurring on September 23, 2023, when Penn State tied with the Huskies 1-1.
- The Nittany Lions have faced Hockey East teams 55 times in the programs history and tally a record of 17-25-13.
SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
- UConn enters this week with an 0-2-0 record after falling to No. 2/3 Minnesota 1-4 and 2-3 on Sept. 28-29.
- The Huskies entered the 2024-25 season as the reigning Hockey East champions as they captured their first conference title in program history.
- Leading the offense is Megan Woodworth who has two points on the year off one goal and one assist. In net stands Megan Warrener who’s tallied a GAA of 2.96 and save percentage of .938.
DESA NAMED AHA GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
- Junior Katie DeSa was named the Atlantic Hockey America Goaltender of the Week as the league announced on Monday. This is DeSa’s second Goaltender of the Week nod in her career.
- DeSa had a strong start to the 2024-25 season allowing just three goals in the entire series to No. 13/13 Northeastern. She was a rock in net in game two allowing just one goal and making 17 saves on 18 shots which aided in the Nittany Lions 2-1 victory.
- She currently sits with 11 wins in her career, save percentage of .925 and career GAA of 1.57.
SPREADING THE WEALTH
- Penn State had five point getters during the series against No. 13/13 Northeastern.
- Tessa Janecke led the way with three points in the series while Katelyn Roberts recorded two points in the series while three others also recorded points.
AROUND THE WORLD
- The 2024-25 roster is a melting pot of different countries.
- The Nittany Lions have a total of nine student-athletes the represent countries outside the United States.
- The countries include Austria, Sweden, and Canada in which nine student-athletes are from the land up north.
