Women’s Tennis Travels to WVU Martha Thorn Invitational

The Nittany Lions will be joined by five programs at the tournament

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Women’s Tennis heads to Morgantown, West Virginia for the WVU Martha Thorn Invitational. Play will begin on Friday, Oct. 4 and go until Sunday, Oct. 6 at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts.  

In addition to West Virginia, the Nittany Lions will compete against Duquesne, Louisville, Maryland and Western Michigan at the tournament. 

Penn State will send Jordina Cegarra, Patricia Grigoras, Deanna Lasorda, Jelena Vico, Kate Zink and Yvonne Zuffova to compete at the weekend invitational. 

At the UNC Kitty Harrison Invitational, Cegarra defeated Duke’s Ava Krug (7-6, 7-6). Grigoras picked up her first collegiate singles victories over Charlotte’s Shona Nakano (6-3, 7-5) and Purdue’s Juana Larranaga (7-6, 4-6, 10-3). Zuffova and Grigoras earned a doubles win against Ida Clement/Ashlie Wilson of Purdue (6-2).
