UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State cross country team will take a short road trip to Bethlehem, Pa., where they will race in the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh on Saturday, October 5. The men’s college gold race is slated to begin at 11 a.m. while the women’s college gold race will start at 11:45 a.m.

PENN STATE OUTLOOK

Penn State’s women’s team is a week removed from its tenth-overall finish at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational, where senior Florence Caron took home second place in the women’s 6K race. Caron’s 20:03.2 mark powered the Nittany Lions to finish tenth out of 25 teams in the meet, taking down six ranked teams in doing so. Caron’s performance in the Nuttycombe Invitational has earned her Big Ten Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.

The men’s team did not run last week, however in its most recent outing, the group finished just two points behind Columbia to earn fifth place overall at the Spike Shoe Invitational in University Park.

The women’s team seeks to build depth this week at Lehigh, as it enters the meet ranked No. 21 in the nation and No. 2 in the Mid-Atlantic region, while the men return to the course at No. 4 in the region.

THE ANNUAL PAUL SHORT RUN MEET

The Paul Short Run started in 1969 and continued to grow through the years into one of the largest collegiate cross country meets in the country. 164 women’s teams and 150 men’s teams will compete in this year’s meet, making up one of the largest fields in the storied history of the meet.
