UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State cross country’s Nick Sloff earned Big Ten Men’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week honors for his outing at the Lehigh Paul Short Run, the conference announced Wednesday.
The Nittany Lion redshirt freshman turned in a solid outing at the Lehigh Paul Short Run on Saturday, finishing 59th overall in the college men’s gold 8K race in a personal-best time of 24:27.4. Sloff has finished as one of Penn State’s top three runners in each race this season, an impressive achievement for the young runner.
The State College local earns the third Big Ten weekly award of his career, as he earned both Big Ten Men’s Cross Country Runner and Freshman of the Week on September 11 of this year. In the first year of the Big Ten Freshman of the Week award, Sloff’s two wins have set an impressive standard for Nittany Lion newcomers, with more season still to come.
Sloff and the Nittany Lions have an off week this week, but return to action on October 18 when they travel to New Jersey to compete in the Princeton Fall Classic. The meet will serve as the final regular season opportunity for Penn State before its postseason slate begins.
