Penn State Student-Athlete Quotes - Postgame Press Conference

Washington – November 9, 2024

Tyler Warren | TE | Sr.

Q: Tyler, you kind of always seem to have big games in the White Out. Is there anything to that for you? I mean, it's just constant every year.

A: No, I don't think it's an emphasis or anything like that. Over the years I've been fortunate enough to have some big games in the White Out. I can't complain about being able to play in front of a crowd like that, and they're always fun. It was another great one this year, and it's just a great team win.

Q: Are you aware that you set single season records for receptions and yardage tonight? You broke Gesicki’s record. I know you're not much of a record guy yourself, but what does that mean to you?

A: To be in that conversation with as many great tight ends who have played here and that I played with is special to me. That's kind of what makes it special, knowing the guys that have been here and how talented Penn State tight ends are. That's kind of why it means so much to me.

Drew Allar | QB | Jr.

Q: It's one thing Drew to think that you're going to be resilient but to go out and show it. Can you just say what that means for this team? After a loss, is it a little bit different, is it or not?

A: We've shown it all year in different ways. Honestly, we were looking forward to the opportunity to come out, play in the White Out and play football. At the end of the day, we enjoyed it. Like you said, it is adversity that we faced coming off last week. But again, it's just another form of adversity. It's about how we respond to that adversity is what defines us as a team.

Q: Why was it so good at the beginning this week?

A: I think it comes down to execution. I believe in our game plan every week. There hasn't been a week this year where I doubted the game plan going into the game. We just came out and started fast, executed the plays that Coach (Andy) Kotelnicki called, and took advantage of our opportunities when we got down into the red zone.

Abdul Carter | DE | Jr.

Q: I know when you were making that transition, you told us before you were talking to Chop (Robinson) and Adisa (Isaac) a lot. Are you still keeping in touch with those guys?

A: Adisa was actually here tonight. I got to chop it up with him. I gave him a hug. He's doing good with the Ravens. He gave me coaching points. Me watching him, even Coach Deion (Barnes), he was showing me clips of Adisa doing the right things, and me just learning from him that way.

Q: Does a night like tonight give you another, I guess, layer of confidence, if that makes any sense? But does it feel like you keep building your confidence on a night like this, and obviously you've kind of been stacking, as Audrey pointed out, week after week after week.

A: It is definitely a week to stack on, a week to improve on. We played good tonight, but even when we go back in the film room tomorrow, it's going to be little things where we can get better at. We could have been even more dominant.

Q: You were one of the guys that teammates said last week in the locker room was kind of instrumental in keeping this thing afloat. Do you remember what you said last week?

A: I feel like the last two years of college football, if we lost that game last week, it probably would have ended our season. College football is different this year, and that one game is not going to derail our season. We just have to bounce back, come back, and get better. That's what we did this week.

Kaytron Allen | RB | Jr.

Q: You guys had more than double the rushing yards you had last week against Ohio State. What worked better this week than it did last week?

A: Just taking things one day at a time throughout practice. Everybody is trying to get better, from the o-line, running backs, everybody just trying to buy in and get better. That's what we did, and it showed today.

Q: With the White Out crowd, I know there's a lot of emotion. Is there any chance of being too bought into it? Is there a chance you get a little bit too much and have to kind of return to the game?

A: You’re just out here having fun. You’re just out there loving what we do. Just playing football. I know I love football. I know everybody on the team loves football. That just showed today. We just had fun with each other. Everybody making plays: defense, offense, special teams. It showed today.

Alonzo Ford Jr. | DT | R-Sr.

Q: In any role you’ve been getting that momentum going it seems like, how far along are you since getting back to the field at the start of the season?

A: I’ve been coming along pretty good. I started to feel like myself a lot more getting back to the field.

Q: When you think about that first half you guys put together, 28 to nothing, a lot of us were wondering how you’d respond to the loss. What did that mean about the week of preparation going into it?

A: We definitely prepared a lot. And we definitely put a lot of work in to come out and respond well to a loss last week. We are focusing on the things we can focus on.

A.J. Harris | CB | So.

Q: How big is it that a guy like Davion (Audavion Collins) gets in there?

A: Absolutely. He hasn’t played all year. That’s what’s great to see, because in the spring, he had such a great spring. We know that he is very talented, so just for him to be out there and playing fast and physical, it’s just so good for the corners to watch. We love to watch each other have a good game. We uplift each other.

Kobe King | LB | R-Jr.

Q: What did it mean that you guys to have the third down success that you did? It seemed like you guys got off the field pretty well.

A: It meant a lot, actually. You definitely get off the field fast. It was more efficient today. I think guys just locked in, and guys were on point. That’s really it.

Q: How would you describe the way Abdul has been changing games right now?

A: Ever since he stepped on campus, he’s been dominant. He’s been showing it. That’s my guy, great player. Great person. He’s dominant. They got a game plan for him, obviously, but his demeanor, his energy, it’s infectious on the field. We definitely feed off that, they feed off me, and he’s great for us.

Anthony Donkoh | OL | R-Fr.

Q: I think that was your best performance on third downs as an offense this season. What did you feel like went into that?

A: The big thing for us, especially us supporting backs and the running backs, were the third down pressures that they bring, like the third down packages, and being able to pick up any cobra plugs, anything like that. And we did a really good job with that. We did a really good job of getting open, and that’s what really helped us out today.

Q: What did it mean to see the run game bounce back tonight?

A: It’s a huge confidence booster for us. I feel like in weeks past, we couldn’t do as good of a job that like we wanted to because we had a few technique issues for us as an offensive line, I would say. Today we cleaned it up, and we saw the results of that. Being able to run for as much as we did, and doing it efficiently, having some explosive runs too. So it’s just like a big, big confidence booster for us.
