Aiden Fink Named B1G Hockey Third Star of the Week

Sophomore Aiden Fink (Calgary, Alberta) was named Big Ten Hockey’s Third Star of the Week for his performances against Michigan over the weekend as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Sophomore Aiden Fink (Calgary, Alberta) was named Big Ten Hockey’s Third Star of the Week for his performances against Michigan over the weekend as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning.

Fink tallied back-to-back multi-point efforts, including tying his career-high with four points on Saturday, while registering a plus-5 rating against the Wolverines to secure his fourth career Big Ten weekly award and his first this season joining Simon Mack who was named B1G Third Star back in October.

Fink is currently riding a four-game goal streak, one shy of his career-best from last season, following his three-goal, six-point weekend. Those six points tied for the national lead for the week.

The Calgary native collected one goal and one assist on Friday before tying his career-high with a four-point effort with two goals and two assists on Saturday night marking his first multi-goal game of the season and the fourth of his career. The two multi-point efforts marked his fourth and fifth of the season, and he now has 14 for his career including three in his last four games.

Fink is currently leading the Big Ten and ranks tied for third in the nation averaging 1.64 points per game while his 18 points are tied for the second most in the Big Ten and fifth nationally. His seven goals are tied for fifth in the Big Ten and 17th in the nation while his 11 helpers are the third-most in the conference and tied for 11th nationally.

Fink hit the 50-point mark for his career on Saturday in his 45th game becoming the second fastest Nittany Lion to reach that milestone. Denis Smirnov ‘20 reached the 50-point mark in his 41st collegiate game back in 2017 to set the program standard.

Fink’s 18 points through 11 games this season are the most for a Nittany Lion at this point in the year since both Evan Barratt and Alex Limoges had 19 points through 11 games during the 2018-19 campaign.

The Nittany Lions are back in action tonight and tomorrow as they welcome the Colgate Red Raiders to Pegula Ice Arena for 6 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. puck drops, respectively.

A special BOGO ticket offer is available for both games HERE.
