BOSTON – The Penn State women’s ice hockey team clinched a pair of Atlantic Hockey America weekly awards as the league announced on Monday. Lyndie Lobdell was named AHA Defensive Player of the Week while Maddy Christian earned AHA Forward of the Week honors.
Christian picks up the first AHA weekly award honor of her career after a five-point week that came against Syracuse on October 31 and November 1. She fired three goals and two assists with two of the goals coming on the power-play.
She racked up her first multi-goal game of the season in Friday's 5-2 win against the Orange. Christian is currently on a three-game point streak and three-game goal streak as she sits first in the AHA in goals with seven this season and in goals per game averaging .58 goals per game. She sits 13th in the nation in goals and sits 25th in points with 12.
Lobdell captures her third AHA weekly award of the season after posting three assists and six blocked shots against Syracuse. The Aurora, Ill. native recorded all three assists in the Nittany Lions 5-2 victory against the Orange on November 1. The three-assist outing is the second time Lobdell has tallied a three-assist game this season.
She sits tied for first in the AHA in assists with nine this season while she sits tied for first in assists per game averaging .75 assists per game. The graduate student also sits tied for 13th in the nation in assists and tied for 34th in the nation in points.
