UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State redshirt freshman offensive lineman Anthony Donkoh was selected as a semifinalist for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award on Wednesday. He is one of 14 semifinalists.
The Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award is presented by the Maxwell Football Club to the outstanding freshman player in college football.

- Has appeared in 12 games, making seven starts, as a Nittany Lion.
- Has earned seven starts and played in all eight games at right tackle this season.
- According to Pro Football Focus, Donkoh has allowed zero sacks in 178 pass-blocking snaps this season.
- Donkoh has a 78.8 run-blocking grade, according to PFF, good for fifth in the Big Ten among offensive linemen with at least 300 run-blocking snaps.
- The Nittany Lions have tallied at least 400 total yards in five games and at least 200 rushing yards in four games.
- Made his first career start against West Virginia, helping Penn State to gain 457 yards and eight runs of 10+ yards, while not allowing a sack.
- Aided PSU to tally 438 total yards against Bowling Green as Nicholas Singleton (119) and Kaytron Allen (101) both went over 100 rushing yards.
- Penn State set program records with 718 total yards and 40 first downs against Kent State.
- Paved the way as PSU rushed for 239 yards and three touchdowns against Illinois.
- PSU posted 518 total yards and 400 passing yards at USC.
- The Nittany Lions notched 419 total yards at Wisconsin.
The Shaun Alexander Award, started in 2018, recognizes the exceptional performance and impact made by these players on their respective teams throughout the season. The Alexander Award is all about championing future legends and evaluates players based on talent, character, ambassador and legend.
The Shaun Alexander Award’s five finalists will be revealed on December 4.
The winner will be announced on December 26 and the award will be presented on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Maxwell Football Club Awards ceremony.
