Lady Lions welcome the Dukes for their third game in a five-game home stint

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State women’s basketball hosts in-state rival Duquesne on Sunday, Nov. 10 in the Bryce Jordan Center. Tip time in Happy Valley is set for 1 p.m. as the Lady Lions continue their non-conference home stint.

LAST TIME OUT

  • Penn State defeated Canisius 89-57 in Happy Valley on Thursday, a 32-point margin of victory.
  • The Lady Lions extended their non-conference home win streak to 13-straight games, the fourth longest spurt in program history.
  • Gracie Merkle led the offense with 20 points as she surpassed the 500-point mark in her career. Merkle also picked up six boards, two assists and three blocks. This was her second consecutive game scoring 20 or more points.
  • Freshman Cam Rust recorded her first collegiate double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds including five offensive rebounds.
  • Alli Campbell tallied another solid performance, posting eight points, four assists and four steals.
  • Jayla Oden produced a 12-point outing, shooting four-of-six from the field and two-of-three from long range.
  • The Lady Lions put up their second-straight 30-plus-point first quarter, scoring 31 points in the opening period.

SCOUTING THE DUKES

  • The Dukes finished last season with a 21-13 overall record in 2023-24, going 13-5 in the A10 conference. They lost in the conference tournament in the championship to Richmond.
  • Duquesne made a run in the WNIT, defeating Monmouth in the first round with a 69-65 win in overtime and losing to Purdue 50-71 in the second round.
  • In their first game of the 2024-25 campaign, the Dukes beat Princeton 76-66 in their season opener.
  • Three Dukes reached double figure scoring; Megan McConnell had a team high 24 points, Jerni Kiaku had 10 and Nadia Moore had 10 as well.

PENN STATE – DUQUESNE SERIES

  • The series between Penn State and Duquesne dates back to 1983 and consists of 18 meetings between the two squads.

  • The Lady Lions won 16-straight games until falling to the Dukes in 2018.

2023-24 SEASON IN REVIEW
