Track & Field Collects Multiple Big Ten Honors

Kitching, Dwyer, Henry recognized by Big Ten

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State track & field’s Hayley Kitching, Ajani Dwyer, and Ryan Henry were honored by the Big Ten in a pair of recent award releases.

ATHLETES TO WATCH

Kitching and Dwyer were named Penn State’s athletes to watch by the conference Tuesday afternoon. Following the opening weekend of the 2024-25 indoor season, both Kitching and Dwyer turned heads with phenomenal performances. Dwyer’s 6.55 60-meter dash mark is the third-fastest ever recorded by a U-20 athlete in U.S. history, while Kitching, an 800-meter specialist, clocked a 4:37.57 mile PR that just missed the Nittany Lions’ top-five list.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Henry earned Penn State’s first Athlete of the Week award of the 2024-25 indoor season, collecting the field honor for his performance in the shot put on Saturday at the Bison Opener. His personal-best 62-0.5 (18.91m) effort in his first meet as a Nittany Lion currently ranks as the No. 3 throw in Division I after opening weekend.

Dwyer collected the Big Ten’s first Men’s Freshman of the Week honor following his aforementioned historic outing in the 60-meter dash at Bucknell on Saturday.
