Nittany Lion Phia Gladieux Named NFHCA Mideast Region Player of the Year

Gladieux named Region Player of the Year for the third time

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey standout Phia Gladieux has been named National Field Hockey Coaches Association Mideast Region Player of the Year. This marks the third time Gladieux has won the honor and adds to an ever-growing list of accolades claimed this year and over the course of her stellar five-year career at Penn State.

With the addition of this third Region Player of the Year honor, Gladieux’s career accolades are as follows: 2024 Olympian (Paris); First team All-Big Ten (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024); NFHCA first team All-Region (2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024); NFHCA second team All-American (2020), NFHCA first team All-American (2021, 2022, 2023).; NFHCA Mideast Regional Player of the Year (2021, 2022, 2024); Big Ten All-Tournament Team (2021, 2023); 2022 NCAA All-Tournament Team; Honda Award Finalist for Field Hockey (2022); Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year (2022, 2023); Big Ten Player of the Year (2022); Penn State Female Athlete of the Year (2022-23).

A standout in the classroom, she has also earned a bevy of academic awards: NFHCA National All-Academic Team (2021. 2022, 2023) and Academic All-Big Ten (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024). The Boyertown, Pa., native had 44 points this season off 20 goals and four assists. She leaves Penn State as the school’s all-time leading goal scorer (94) and all-time leader in points (94 goals, 14 assists.).
