ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State men’s gymnasts Matt Cormier and Josh Karnes were named 2025 Big Ten Gymnasts to Watch, it was announced by the conference offices on Thursday afternoon.
Penn State was picked to finish fourth in the 2025 Big Ten Men’s Gymnastics Preseason Poll, as voted on by the conference coaches.

Cormier, a three-time captain, earned All-American honors in the 2023 season in the all-around, and on parallel bars and high bar. In the 2024 slate, the Milton, Massachusetts native, posted a season-best 13.900 on high bar at Nebraska, just 0.150 shy of his career-best, which he hit in 2023.
Karnes is coming off the heels of an All-American campaign after earning the bronze on parallel bars and finishing fifth in the all-around at the 2024 NCAA Championships. The Erie, Pennsylvania native spent the early part of the offseason at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Gymnastics Trials, competing alongside Penn State alumnus Stephen Nedoroscik.
The senior is set to compete in the CGA All-Star games for the second consecutive season after he earned the parallel bars title at the 2023 CGA All-Star Games.

The Nittany Lions open their 2024 season at the West Point Open at Army on Friday, Jan.10 through Saturday, Jan. 11.
