BOSTON - The Penn State women’s ice hockey team captured a pair of Atlantic Hockey America monthly awards as the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. The AHA named Tessa Janecke Forward of the Month and Kendall Butze Defensive Player of the Month.
BOSTON - The Penn State women’s ice hockey team captured a pair of Atlantic Hockey America monthly awards as the league announced on Tuesday afternoon. The AHA named Tessa Janecke Forward of the Month and Kendall Butze Defensive Player of the Month.
Janecke earns her second straight monthly honor of the season after posting 11 points on six goals and five assists. The Orangeville, Ill. native tallied one point or more in six of the seven games played during the month of November. In two of those games, she registered a pair of three-point games in each game of the Lindenwood series on November 15 and 16. This season, Janecke has 25 points on 11 goals and 14 assists. She currently ranks ninth nationally in points and 12th in assists.
Butze captured her first monthly honor of the year after tallying 11 points on two goals and nine assists in November. She tallied two multi-point games in the month, which included a six-point game against Lindenwood on November 16. She tied the single game program record for the most assists in a single game. Her six points placed her tied for second in program history with the most points in a single game. In the year, Butze sits tied for fifth in the nation in points with 16 on three goals and 13 assists.
Penn State returns to action on Friday, December 6 when they begin a two-game series at Mercyhurst. Puck-drop is set for 3 p.m.
