Track & Field to Open Indoor Season with Split-Squad Weekend

Penn State to compete at Penn, Bucknell, and Boston to begin indoor season

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State track & field is set to start its indoor slate with a three-meet split-squad weekend. The Nittany Lions will start their weekend at the Penn Opener in Philadelphia on Friday, Dec. 6, followed by outings at the Bison Opener in Lewisburg and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston on Saturday, Dec. 7.

The Nittany Lions are set to begin their 2024-2025 indoor season building off the success the program saw last season. Penn State’s women’s team finished their campaign last season ranked 20th in USTFCCCA Program of the Year Standings thanks-in-part to excellent showings during the track & field season. Additionally, both its men’s and women’s teams finished inside the top three in the team standings at the Big Ten Indoor Championships. The Nittany Lions return five First Team All-Americans from last year’s indoor team, including 800-meter superstars Hayley Kitching and Handal Roban.

Head Coach John Gondak begins his eleventh season guiding the Nittany Lion track & field program. With newcomers and veterans alike entered into meets this weekend, Gondak’s Penn State squad seeks to set an early tone for the 2024-2025 season.
