UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Graduate-student forward Alli Campbell of women’s basketball and junior wide receiver Omari Evans of football have each been recognized as the Student-Athletes of the Month, as announced by the Morgan Academic Center (MAC) and PSU’s academic services staff on Monday.
Campbell, an Altoona, Pennsylvania, native, is pursuing her Master of Business Administration in the Smeal College of Business and has maintained a cumulative GPA above a 3.5. The two-tie Academic All-Big Ten honoree has helped guide the Lady Lions to an 8-2 start and holds averages the second most steals (1.7) and blocks (1.1) per game on the team. Campbell was recently selected by the Kay Yow Cancer Fund as one-of-fourteen Kay Yow Servant Leader for the 2024-25 season. The honor is presented annually to people of great character who put the needs of others before their own, who uplift others, and who do it with grace and humility. They are nominated by their coach and are people who exemplify Coach Yow’s spirit and who reflect her resolve, grace, generosity, and servant’s heart.
Evans, a Killeen, Texas, native, is a telecommunications major. The wide receiver, who earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in his sophomore season, has aided the Nittany Lions to their first College Football Playoff (CFP) appearance since the CFP was created in 2014. He has tallied 19 catches for 360 yards so far this season, including four for scores. The junior most recently caught a touchdown pass against No. 1-ranked Oregon in the Big Ten Championship game.
The MAC Student-Athletes of the Month (SAOTM) are students who exemplify the PSU values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, and Community as well as the Athletics values of Tradition, Teamwork, Diversity, Innovation, and Resilience. At least one female and one male student-athlete will be selected each month, and those students must be in good academic standing, demonstrate strong accountability, and be an example of the leadership on campus and in their community. They are nominated and selected by the Penn State academic services staff.
