UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 15 Penn State women's ice hockey team rallied a three-goal comeback to complete the series sweep over Mercyhurst winning in overtime 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first period, Mercyhurst scored back-to-back goals off the sticks of Thea Johnansson and Vanessa Upson to give Mercyhurst a 2-0 lead after two periods of play.
- Penn State began the comeback in the third period as Leah Stecker scored as the power-play ended to narrow the Mercyhurst lead to 2-1 with 9:33 remaining in the frame.
- The Nittany Lions were able to tie the game up after the goalie was pulled with 1:17 left in regulation as Brianna Brooks scored on the power-play to even the game at 2-2.
- Just 19 seconds into the overtime period, Maggie MacEachern scored the game-winner off feeds by Tessa Janecke and Katelyn Roberts to secure the 3-2 victory and series sweep of Mercyhurst.
GOALTENDERS
- Goalie Katie DeSa picked up her fifth straight win in net to improve her record to 5-1-0 on the year.
- She tallied 18 saves in the win.

- Penn State improves to 18-11-1 overall and 13-3-0 in CHA play.
- The Nittany Lions pick up their fifth straight victory.
- Maggie MacEachern recorded her first game-winning goal of the year.
- This is Penn State's first overtime win of the season.
