UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – No. 25 Penn State women's gymnastics was selected to compete in the Michigan Regional of the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, with action slated to begin April 3 in Ann Arbor.
Joining Penn State in its Michigan Regional session will be Alabama, Michigan, and Kent State. Oklahoma, NC State, and Ohio State will go in the second session of the Michigan Regional, with Illinois and Ball State slated to compete in the play-in round the night before.
The NCAA selection committee identified the top 16 teams and seeded them in the bracket. Teams 17-36 were placed geographically at one of the four regional sites. Eight teams from each region will compete on day one of their respective regionals, with the top four teams moving on to day two of competition. The top two placing teams in day three of the competition will advance to compete at the NCAA Championship in Fort Worth, Texas.
Penn State qualifies for regionals for the second consecutive season, and 47th time overall, this year carrying a top-25 designation as the 25th-ranked team in the country. The Nittany Lions, under head coach Sarah Brown, set a school record with a 196.825 NQS this season heading into postseason competition.
