UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's gymnastics' Amani Herring was recently announced as a qualifier to this year's NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships and will head to Fort Worth, Texas to compete on the balance beam in the national meet which is set to take place in Dickies Arena from April 18-20.
The Nittany Lion sophomore will compete in the first semifinal session on Thursday, April 18. and will rotate with Arkansas. Herring and the Razorbacks will start their meet on the balance beam.
Herring's 9.9 on balance beam during the Ann Arbor Regional semifinal round on Thursday afternoon qualified her to the national meet as the top finisher from a non-NCAA Championships-qualifying team. The Denville, N.J. native earns her first-career NCAA Championships appearance.
The Nittany Lion sophomore helped her team achieve a regional school record-setting 196.925 on Thursday, which the squad then set again with an outstanding 197.050 during the regional finals on Saturday evening.
