CARLSBAD, Calif. – Penn State men's golf student-athletes Jake Griffin and Patrick Sheehan have been named to the Division I All-Northeast Region Team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Saturday.
The GCAA annually recognizes NCAA Division I collegiate players across six regions -- Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West. With two GCAA All-Region honors in 2023-24, a total of 93 Nittany Lions have been recognized as All-Northeast Region selections since 1992-93.
Sheehan collects All-Region honors for the third-straight year. He led the Nittany Lions this season with a 72.42 stroke average through 33 rounds. He tallied three top-10 finishes and one top-five finish during the 2023-24 season, highlighted by finishing tied for second at the Rutherford Intercollegiate in April.
Griffin earns All-Region honors for the second-straight season after finishing second on the team with a 73.45 stroke average through 33 rounds. He put together three top-10 finishes and one top-five finish during his junior season, including a fourth-place finish at the Rutherford Intercollegiate in April.
The GCAA's Northeast Region, which covers the geographic area from Maine to Washington, D.C., comprises more than 50 NCAA Division I programs and has the largest number of schools of any region.
