Penn State Women’s Basketball Adds Sean Bair to Coaching Staff

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State women's basketball head coach Carolyn Kieger welcomes Sean Bair back to Happy Valley to serve as an assistant coach on her staff. Bair brings collegiate and high school experience as well as a history of data and analytics to the Lady Lions' coaching staff. The Gettysburg, Pa. native enjoyed a one-year sting as the Director of Video & Analytics at PSU from 2020-21.

Kieger said, "We're excited to announce the return of Sean to our Penn State Family! Sean's wealth of experience and passion for the game makes him an invaluable addition to our coaching staff. His dedication to player development and commitment to fostering a winning culture align perfectly with our program's goals. We look forward to the impact he'll make as we strive for continued success on and off the court."

Bair most recently spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Monmouth University in West Long Branch, N.J. In his first season with the Hawks, he helped coach the team to a 12-win campaign, including a seven-win improvement in conference play. The season marked the largest turnaround from one season to the next in program history while the Hawks saw their most overall and conference wins since the 2018-19 season.

Prior to his time at Monmouth, Bair spent a season in Happy Valley. While on the Penn State staff, he used video and analytics to increase the team's conference wins by six from the previous year, including a signature win over no. 15 Ohio State. He worked closely creating player development videos, evaluating recruits and generating post game reports.

After graduating from Dickinson College in 2012, Bair went back to school seven years later and became a graduate assistant at Arkansas where he earned a master's degree while working with the Razorbacks men's basketball team. His duties at Arkansas included recruiting graphics, logistical organization, strategic research and many other responsibilities within the program. Bair earned his master's degree in Adult and Life Long Learning from Arkansas.

Upon completing his undergraduate studies, Bair went on to be the head boys basketball coach at New Oxford High School in Pennsylvania from 2013-19. He saw significant success throughout his head coaching stint, securing three-straight winning seasons including two trips to the PIAA 5A postseason in 2017 and 2018. His team earned 20-plus win seasons in 2018-19 as well. In his final year as the leader of the boys basketball program at New Oxford, he garnered GameTimePA Coach of the Year honors in 2019.
