UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State cross country team announces its 2024 competition schedule, including one regular-season home meet.
“We have a very challenging cross country schedule this fall which will prepare us well to be ready for the postseason,” said head coach John Gondak. “We are looking forward to hosting both the Spiked Shoe Invitational and the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships at our home course this season. It’s always an advantage to host the regional as we get to train on the course all fall. The staff is excited and looking forward to what both programs can do this year.”
Penn State opens its season at Lock Haven where they will run in the annual Dolan Duals on September 6 against the Bald Eagles. The Nittany Lions then return to Happy Valley for their only regular-season home meet of the 2024 campaign, the Spiked Shoe Invitational on September 13.
The Nittany Lion women will then head to Madison, Wisconsin for the Nuttycombe Invitational on September 27. The squad will come back together to take part in the Paul Short Run at Lehigh on October 5 before wrapping up its regular season at Princeton on October 18 in the Princeton Fall Classic.
The Big Ten Championship meet is first on Penn State’s postseason slate, and the team will travel to Illinois on November 1 to run against its 18 Big Ten Conference foes. The Nittany Lions then return home to host the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on November 15 at the Blue & White Golf Courses. Pending qualification, the cross country season will come to a close at the 2024 NCAA Cross Country Championships back in Wisconsin on November 23.
