2024 Penn State Football Game Themes Announced

Annual Penn State White Out will take place on Nov. 9 against Washington

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Athletics has announced game day themes for the 2024 football season presented by PSECU.

The nationally-recognized Penn State White Out is scheduled for Nov. 9 against Washington, while the Penn State Stripe Out will take place on Oct. 5 against UCLA and the Helmet Stripe happening on Nov. 2 against Ohio State.  

2024 Penn State Football Game Themes:

Sept. 7 – Bowling Green (noon - BTN): THON Game; Youth Sports & Spirit Day; 107K Family Reunion; Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day – Purchase Tickets

  • Penn State Football will be partnering with THON, the largest student-run philanthropy in the world.
  • THON has raised more than $236,000,000 in its history to benefit Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children's Hospital in the fight against childhood cancer.
  • Families and THON volunteers will be invited to the game and the team will wear a THON helmet sticker.
  • Spirit Day includes a pre-game cheer and dance clinic, as well as an opportunity for cheer and dance        participants to perform during halftime.
  • Youth Sport Day invites youth sports teams to attend the game.
  • Faculty and Staff Appreciation day welcome Penn State faculty and staff members to the game.
  • Penn State’s 2023-24 Big Ten/EIVA/CHA Conference Championship teams will be recognized.

Sept. 21 – Kent State (time and network TBD): Military Appreciation Day – Purchase Tickets

Military Appreciation Day activities presented by SRS Distribution 

  • Penn State will honor the men and women who have bravely served our country by dedicating a game to them when the Nittany Lions take the field against Kent State.
  • This year's Military Appreciation theme is POW/MIA and recognizes those who were Prisoners of War and those who are still Missing in Action.
  • Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets to be donated to military members and their families through the
  • "Seats for Servicemembers" program. To support the "Seats for Servicemembers" program visit here or call 1-800-NITTANY.
  • ROTC elite, active duty, veterans and military families will be honored during the game.
  • At halftime student-athletes will be recognized for their academic achievement for those student-athletes with a 3.0 or higher during the Spring 2024 semester.

Sept. 28 – Illinois (3:30 or 4 or 7:30 p.m.; network TBD): Homecoming – Purchase Tickets

Game presented by PA Pork 

  • Penn State Homecoming will celebrate the 2024-25 Guide State Forward award winners during the game.
  • The annual Homecoming Parade will return to campus and downtown State College on Friday night, September 27.
  • The football team will once again turn back the clock for a special "Generations of Greatness" game, donning uniforms with design elements from uniforms past.
  • The 1994 Rose Bowl team will be honored for the 30th anniversary of their Rose Bowl win over Oregon.
  • The Pennsylvania Pork Producers will host the PA Pork Rib Cook-Off at Block Party.

Oct. 5 – UCLA (time and network TBD): Penn State Stripe Out; All-U Day – Purchase Tickets

Game presented by Highmark

  • UCLA will mark the return of the Penn State Stripe Out.
  • Each section will be coordinated in either all blue or white clothing to create a stripe effect in Beaver Stadium.
  • Fans can learn their stripe out color at PennStateStripeOut.com.
  • The annual All-University Day will include involvement of student representatives from all Penn State campuses during halftime.
  • All-U Day celebration includes recognizing all and Commonwealth Campus National Champions.

Nov. 2 – Ohio State (time and network TBD): Helmet Stripe – Purchase Tickets

Game presented by New Holland

  • For the third time ever, Beaver Stadium will have a "helmet stripe" stadium layout.
  • To complete the look, the majority of Beaver Stadium will wear white, while a select sections on the East and West side of the stadium will wear blue, to resemble one of Penn State's classic helmets.

Nov. 9 – Washington (time and network TBD): Penn State White Out – Purchase Tickets

  • All fans are encouraged to sport white attire to ensure a Penn State White Out for the clash with the Huskies.
  • The official 2024 Penn State White Out t-shirt was again a joint project between Penn State and Nike. Fans can purchase the 2024 Penn State White Out shirt here.

Nov. 30 – Maryland (time and network TBD): Senior Day; Scout Day; Educator Appreciation Day; Medical Services Appreciation Day; Parents Weekend – Purchase Tickets

  • The home schedule concludes with Senior Day. The Nittany Lion seniors will be introduced for the final time in front of the Beaver Stadium faithful.
  • Senior day festivities are presented by the Penn State Alumni Association.

Penn State's season opener at West Virginia on Aug. 31 will kick at noon on FOX. The Nittany Lions return 42 lettermen from last year’s squad – 17 on offense, 22 on defense and three on special teams and bring back 16 starters – seven on offense, seven on defense and two on special teams.
