UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State’s Will Kuhns was named the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after strong performances in men’s volleyball matches against No. 12 Loyola Chicago and No. 14 Lewis. It is the first career EIVA weekly award for the graduate student.
Kuhns hit .488 while averaging 3.57 kills, 1.14 digs, and 0.57 blocks per set over the two matches against nationally-ranked opponents. He opened the season with a team-high 12 kills in a four-set match with the Ramblers and then followed that with a career-high 13 kills on .500 hitting in a three-set contest against the Flyers.
The Nittany Lions play two more nationally-ranked opponents this week as they travel to Austin, Texas for the First Point Collegiate Challenge. They take on No. 1 UCLA on Friday at 5 p.m. in a match that will air on ESPNU and follow that with a match against No. 11 Stanford, which will stream on ESPN+.
