BOSTON – Atlantic Hockey America named Penn State women’s ice hockey goalie Katie DeSa Goaltender of the Week and freshman forward Grace Outwater Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon.
DeSa captured a pair of shutout victories against Syracuse this week. She tallied 43 saves, which included an 18 save showing in the Nittany Lions 1-0 overtime victory over the Orange on Friday night.
On the year, DeSa has six shutout wins this season and has nine in her career. She currently holds an 18-4-0 record which sits second in the nation in wins. She has a GAA of 1.41, which ranks fifth in the nation and save percentage of .934, which sits 10th in the nation. This is DeSa’s sixth weekly honor of the year and ninth weekly honor of her career.
Outwater tallied a pair of goals against Syracuse on Saturday, January 18, which included her first collegiate short-handed goal. The multi-goal game was Outwater’s fourth of the year. The Picton, Ontario native, currently sits second in the nation in points among freshman with 22 on 13 goals and nine assists. She sits third in the AHA in goals and seventh in the league in points. The weekly award is her fourth weekly honor this season.
Penn State returns to action on Friday, January 24 as they travel to face Lindenwood. The puck drops at 7 p.m. ET.
