UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Graduate student Michael Artlip, junior Ian Raubal, sophomore Landon Simpson, and redshirt freshman Bobby Alessio represented Penn State men’s gymnastics while competing on behalf of Team East in the 2025 College Gymnastics Association (CGA) All-Stars Games on January 3. Raubal had the top Nittany Lion performance after subbing in for Josh Karnes in the parallel bars, finishing third overall.

The All-Star Games, which began in 2022, are a virtual competition where the nation's best collegiate gymnastics compete against each other divided into two divisions, the East and the West. All-Stars were selected on their 2023 NCAA Championship results and, new to this year’s event, a fan vote.

Gymnasts pre-record their routines and get judged on a 10-point system by the judges in the virtual event.

Raubal received a score of 9.525 to earn the bronze in parallel bars.

Alessio earned an 8.575 on pommel horse.

Artlip tabbed a score of 8.550 on floor but bounced back with a 9.5 on his vault routine. Simpson, who also competed on vault, tallied a 9.450.

The West won for the first time with a score of 225.825, narrowly besting the East’s score of 225.550.

Penn State will kick off the 2025 slate at Army West Point for the West Point Open on Friday, January 10, and Saturday, January 11.
