Karnes Named College Gymnastics Association Specialist of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men’s gymnast Josh Karnes was named the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) Specialist of the Week the offices announced Wednesday afternoon. The honor is the first of the season for the senior.

The Erie, Pennsylvania, native tallied three event titles at Ohio State, all of which marked career-highs. The senior took home the pommel horse, parallel bars, and high bar title. Karnes’s is the nation’s number three ranked parallel bars and number four ranked high bar gymnast so far this season. Karnes’s 14.350 p-bars routine from the weekend is the second highest score by any athlete this season.

Penn State gets a week off before Karnes’s teammate junior Matt Underhill heads to Louisville, Kentucky to compete at the 2025 Winter Cup on Friday, February 21. The Winter Cup will culminate in the selection of the Men’s Senior National Team to be named following the competition.
