HISTORY

  • This is the fifth time the Nittany Lions are facing Princeton. 
  • The Tigers lead the all-time series 3-1.
  • The last time the two teams met was on May 14, 2023 when Penn State defeated Princeton 13-12 in the NCAA Tournament First Round game.  

SCOUTING THE TIGERS

  • Princeton enters their first match this season against Penn State.
  • In the 2024 season, Princeton wrapped up their season with a 11-5 record and 4-2 record in Ivy League conference play. 
  • The Tigers’ preseason rankings were within top five across the board.
  • The Tigers faced numerous injuries in the 2024 season, primarily impacting their SSDMs. They are hoping to avoid as many inuries this season and return injured players to game play.
  • Attackman Coulter Mackesy was named a preseason first-team All-American by Inside Lacrosse.

  • Penn State moved up two spots in the most recent USILA poll this week. 
  • The Nittany Lions advanced into the top 10 with a ranking of ninth in the nation. 
  • Penn State also landed in the top in the most recent Inside Lacrosse poll with a ranking of number 10. 

 

 

TRAYNOR HITS 100 POINTS

  • Penn State senior Matt Traynor hit his 100th career point during the teams match at Villanova on February 9. 
  • Following his six point outing against the Wildcats, the Downingtown, Pa. native has 105 career points on 87 goals and 18 assists.

FRACYON NAMED B1G SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK

  • The Big Ten named Penn State men’s lacrosse senior goaltender Jack Fracyon its Specialist of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. This is Fracyon’s first weekly award of the year and fourth of his career. 
  • Fracyon had a strong week allowing just five goals against Villanova on Sunday. He tallied 10 saves on 15 shots attempted and scooped four ground balls in the win. It was the 23rd time in his career he’s let up less than 10 goals in a single game. 
  • Meanwhile, five goals are the third lowest number of goals he’s allowed in a single game in his career. 
  • The Annapolis, Md. native also sits seventh all-time in career saves with 519. Nationally, he sits 10th in the nation in save percentage (.632) and 19th in save per game as he averages 12 per game.
