UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) announced its yearly all-conference honors on Wednesday afternoon. Penn State led the conference with eight All-AHA First Team, Second Team or AHA All-Rookie Team honorees.
ALL-AHA FIRST TEAM SELECTIONS
F – Tessa Janecke
- This is the third straight All-AHA/CHA First Team selection for the junior forward.
- Janecke was named the AHA Forward of the Month in October and November and the conference’s Forward of the Week three times (Oct. 7, Nov. 18 and Jan. 27).
- She became the Penn State ice hockey (men’s and women’s) all-time leader in points in a 4-0 shutout win over Lindenwood on January 25. She currently has 148 points on 60 goals and 88 assists for her career.
- For the season, Janecke leads the team in points (48), goals (21) and assists (27).
- The team captain paces the conference and nation in faceoff wins with 544, over 100 more than the next highest total.
- Janecke ranks in the top 10 nationally in points, points per game (1.41), goals, goals per game (0.62), assists, power play goals (six) and short-handed goals (two). She is just outside the top 10 in assists per game (.79), sitting in 11th place.
- The Orangeville, Ill. native leads the AHA in points, points per game, goals, goals per game, assists, assists per game, shots (196), shots per game (5.76) and plus/minus (+31). She is second in the league in power play goals and third in short-handed goals.
F - Katelyn Roberts
- The junior forward is second on the team and fourth in the AHA in points (31). Her .91 points per game place her fourth in the league and 37th in the nation.
- She is third on the team in assists with 21, tied for 24th nationally in assists and tied for 28th in assists per game (.62). She ranks fifth in the AHA in both categories.
- Roberts scored 10 goals during the regular season, good for fourth on the team and 11th in the conference.
D - Kendall Butze
- This is Butze’s second AHA/CHA honor after being on the CHA All-Rookie Team for the 2022-23 season.
- Butze was named AHA Defensive Player of the Month in November and earned AHA Defensive Player of the Week honors on Nov. 18.
- She finished the regular season with 22 assists, placing her second on the team and fourth in the AHA. The junior defenseman is 23rd nationally in assists and 24th in assists per game (.65).
- Butze ranks fourth on the team with 29 blocks and tied for fourth in points with 25. She ranks 11th in the conference in points.
- She scored three goals during the 2024-25 campaign.
G - Katie DeSa
- DeSa ranks as one of the top goaltenders in the nation having been named a semifinalist for the HCA Goalie of the Year Award.
- This season, DeSa earned two AHA Goaltender of the Month honors (December and January) and seven AHA Goaltender of the Week awards (Sept. 30, Oct. 21, Nov. 25, Dec. 9, Jan. 6, Jan. 20 and Jan. 27).
- The junior compiled an impressive 24-5 record during the regular season, just three wins away from the program’s single season record.
- DeSa’s eight shutout victories tie her for first place nationally. She ranks second in wins, second in winning percentage (.828), sixth in goals against average (1.402) and 14th in save percentage (.935). She tops the AHA leaderboard in all five categories.
ALL-AHA SECOND TEAM SELECTIONS
F - Maddy Christian
- Christian earned recognition as the AHA Forward of the Week on Nov. 4.
- She finished third on the team, sixth in the AHA, with 29 points on 18 goals and 11 assists.
- The junior forward is tied for first on the team, second in the conference and ninth nationally in power play goals (six). She leads the team and is tied for second in the nation with three short-handed goals.
- Christian’s 18 goals are second on the team and tied for 15th nationally. She is tied for 16th in goals per game. For both categories, she ranks second in the AHA.
D - Lyndie Lobdell
- This is Lobdell’s second AHA/CHA award after being on the 2020-21 CHA All-Rookie Team.
- The graduate defenseman earned AHA Defensive Player of the Month in October while tallying four AHA Defensive Player of the Week awards (Oct. 14, Oct. 28, Nov. 4 and Jan. 13).
- She became the all-time points leader among defensemen at Penn State on Jan. 31 against Robert Morris. Currently, she has 83 points for her career.
- Lobdell racked up 20 points behind four goals and 16 assists. The 16 assists are fourth on the team and tied for ninth in the conference.
- She is tied with Janecke for the conference lead in plus/minus at +31.
- Lobdell blocked a team-high 41 shots this season.
AHA ALL-ROOKIE TEAM SELECTIONS
F – Grace Outwater
- Outwater tallied multiple AHA recognitions during her rookie season. She was the AHA Rookie of the Month in October, Rookie of the Week four times (Oct. 28, Nov. 25, Jan. 6, Jan. 20) and Forward of the Week on Oct. 21.
- The freshman forward made a name for herself in her freshman campaign with 25 points on 16 goals and nine assists. She is tied for 23rd in the nation in goals and 24th in goals per game (.48). She ranks fourth in the conference for both categories.
- Outwater leads the AHA and is tied for seventh nationally with five game winning goals.
- She is tied for second in the conference and tied for fourth in the nation in short-handed goals (two).
- Outwater recorded a hat trick on Oct. 26 against Stonehill.
D – Grace Tullock
- Finished the season with 36 blocks, good for second on the team.
- Assisted on five goals over the course of the season.
