UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State track & field team is slated to begin competition at the Big Ten Indoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis on Friday. The two-day meet will take place in the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1.
The most recent USTFCCCA rankings puts the men’s team at No. 13 in Division I entering indoor postseason competition.

THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Penn State owns 24 top-eight marks in the Big Ten this season entering competition against the new-look Big Ten for the first time in the track & field season. The No. 13 men’s team owns 13 marks in scoring positions in the conference, with Darius Smallwood’s 600m and 800m times leading the conference. On the women’s side, the Nittany Lions own nine top-eight marks in the conference, with Hayley Kitching leading the conference in the 800m and Florence Caron topping the Big Ten’s performance list in the 5K.
Last season, both of Penn State’s teams finished in the top three in the conference at the indoor meet. With the addition of four squads to the Big Ten, the Nittany Lions will have to contend with more of the nation’s top track & field talent in order to return to the team podium.
