UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The No. 8 Penn State women's ice hockey team returns home to host Mercyhurst for a two-game series at Pegula Ice Arena starting on Friday, February 7 at 6 p.m

PARKING
Parking for Penn State women's ice hockey games at Pegula Ice Arena will be available at the following locations beginning two hours prior to the start of each game:
- Parking will be prepay only this Friday.
- Those with prepaid passes though ParkMobile for Stadium West for Women’s Hockey can park in Shields lot starting at 5pm.
- Those with the Community Visitor pass will need to park in the Orange Lots. Those that do not prepay will need to park in the East Deck.
- Stadium, West, Jordan East, Porter North
- No charge with a valid Penn State parking pass
- $5.50 prepaid through ParkMobile (season package available for $5 per game): ParkMobile Link
- $10 day-of-event without a valid permit or prepayment (pay station or ParkMobile app – zone no. 95112)
- ParkMobile prepayment availability ends at 11:59 p.m. the night before each event. Events will not be selectable on the site after that time, and payment must then be made on site upon arrival to event parking staff (cash only).
HISTORY
- Penn State is facing the Lakers for the 56th and 57th times in program history.
- The Lakers currently lead the series 25-21-9.
- The last time the two teams faced each other came on December 7, 2024 where the Nittany Lions defeated Mercyhurst 4-2.
SCOUTING THE LAKERS
- Mercyhurst enters the series with an 16-12-4, overall record and a 11-4-1 record in AHA play.
- They are coming off from a win and tied games to RIT on January 31-February 1 by scores of 3-2 and 1-1.
- Leading their offense is Vanessa Upson who tallies 30 points on eleven goals and 19 assists.
- In net stands Jordan Mattison who tallies a record of 18-17, GA of 30, and save percentage of .933. of .921.
DESA NAMED AHA GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH
- Atlantic Hockey America named Penn State women’s ice hockey goaltender Katie DeSa Goaltender of the Month on Friday afternoon. The award is DeSa’s second monthly honor of the season and third of her career.
- DeSa captured five shutout wins in January while earning nine straight wins in net. She tallied a GAA of 1.00, save percentage of .957, and record 207 saves. The Pawcatuck, Conn. native, picked up a win against No. 3 Minnesota as she tallied 32 saves in the Nittany Lions 6-2 victory.
- On the year, DeSa stands with a 22-4-0 record, save percentage of .940, and GAA of 1.29. She sits second in the nation in wins, four in GAA, and eighth in save percentage.
- DeSa sits second in program history for most wins by a goalie in a single season. She also has eight shutout wins on the year, which is second most in a single season in program history.
CELEBRATING OUR SENIORS
- Penn State is celebrating their seven seniors on Saturday following the game on Saturday against Mercyhurst.
- Brianna Brooks, Lyndie Lobdell, Annie Spring, Alyssa Machado, Lauren Barbro, Karley Garcia, and Tiffany Hill will be honored.
- This senior class has played in 759 games, tallied 114 goals and 210 assists for 324 points.
- The class has also tallied a total of 1,025 saves as well.
- This season, the class has tallied 75 points on 19 goals and 56 assists.
HISTORY MADE
- Lyndie Lobdell tallied on assist against Robert Morris making her all-time points leader among defensemen at Penn State.
- Currently, she has 81 points in her career on 18 goals and 63 assists.
ONE POINT AWAY
- Penn State is one point away from at least clinching a share of the 2025 Atlantic Hockey America Regular Season title for the third straight year.
- The Nittany Lions are also two wins away from breaking the all-time conference win mark which is currently held by the 2012-13 Mercyhurst team.
