Legacy Fund FAQ

The Legacy Fund is a two-pronged effort providing resources for student-athlete scholarships and a commitment to ensuring Penn State’s 23 athletics facilities, including Beaver Stadium, remain some of the best venues in the nation.

College athletics is experiencing generational change. Penn State Athletics is taking steps to guarantee its longstanding history of excellence in the classroom, the community and competition continues for years to come. Among the changes resulting from the pending House decision, scholarship limits currently in place under NCAA regulations will be removed, allowing Penn State to financially support the academic pursuits of more student-athletes for all 31 sports.

Fans will potentially see nominal contributions associated with a variety of items, including but not limited to season and single-game tickets for all ticketed sports, season and single-game football parking, concessions, novelties and purchases at the Blue & White Golf Courses.

The monies raised through the Legacy Fund will support scholarships for all 31 athletics programs. The Fund will provide resources to maintain Penn State’s 23 athletics facilities that require regular maintenance to operate at the highest level for student-athletes and fans alike.

For many years, Penn State has issued the maximum number of athletics scholarships allowed across our 31 sports as determined by the NCAA. While there are a number of endowed scholarships through the generosity of our donors, Penn State Athletics has consistently faced a financial gap between the endowments and the true cost of scholarships for our student-athletes. Previously, that gap has been covered by operating funds, but in the changing landscape of college athletics and with the potential of additional scholarships, the use of operating funds will no longer be able to cover the growing costs associated with scholarships.

Even with the Legacy Fund contribution, Penn State football season tickets remain comparable nationally to peer institutions. Additionally, football season ticket prices will remain flat through the 2026 season. Football season tickets can be purchased for as low as $433 or $61.85/game.

The Legacy Fund will appear as an added contribution onto a variety of items, including but not limited to, season and single-game tickets for all ticketed sports, season and single-game football parking. Football season ticket holders will be the first to see the application of the Legacy Fund contribution during the renewal period kicking off in February. For football, season ticket accounts will see a line item reflecting a $20 contribution applied to each season seat for the regular season. Likewise, for football season parking, account holders will see a $45 fee applied to each season parking pass.
