Lambrecht Plays Hero as Track & Field Concludes Excellent Day at Sykes & Sabock Challenge

Nittany Lions collect pair of top-five program marks on Senior Day

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Donning their Pink & Black uniforms on Senior Day, the top-30 ranked Penn State track & field teams performed well at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge on Saturday in Happy Valley.

IN THE RECORD BOOKS

As consistent as consistent can be, Darius Smallwood trimmed down his 2025 NCAA No. 2 600-meter PR by 0.04, winning his race in 1:15.45 on Saturday. Smallwood remains atop the Big Ten in the event as the squad prepares for a postseason push.

In the last event of the day, Dylan Lambrecht put on a show for the Nittany Lion faithful as the shot putter posted a lifetime-best effort on his final throw of the day. Lambrecht recorded a 19.13-meter heave to launch himself into 18th on the 2025 NCAA leaderboard while claiming the fourth spot on Penn State’s all-time indoor shot put list behind Nittany Lion legends Darrell Hill, C.J. Hunter, and Joe Kovacs.

Women’s Mile

  • Sophia Toti finished first place overall with a personal-best time of 4:43.51.
  • Sarah Pickering finished in third place in a personal-best 4:45.26.
  • Katie Dallas finished fifth in a personal-best 4:47.57.
  • Claire Zubey took sixth place in 4:49.11.
  • Allison Dougherty placed seventh in 4:53.19, a new personal-best.

Men’s Mile

  • Kevin Haas finished fourth with a time of 4:07.01.
  • Jacob Smith claimed fifth place overall in a personal-best 4:07.43.
  • Caiden Leen finished tenth place with a time of 4:10.49.

Women’s 60m

  • Dani Prunzik finished in third place with a personal-best 7.57 time.
  • Lauren Princz finished fifth in 7.63.
  • Addyson White took seventh overall with a 7.69.

Men’s 60m

  • Ajani Dwyer finished in first place overall, with a 6.59. Dwyer has yet to lose a race in his freshman campaign.

Women’s 4x400

  • Maddie Pitts, Meghan Quinn, Tayissa Buchanan, and Zoey Goldstein placed first overall, with a time of 3:40.49, second among Penn State 4x400 groups this season.
  • Mimi Duffy, Harriet Healey, Dani Prunzik, and Addyson White placed third with a time of 3:50.09.

Men’s 200m

  • James Onwuka finished in second with a huge 21.69 PR.
  • Korbin Martino placed fourth in 21.98.

Women’s 200m

  • Lauren Princz finished in second overall with a time of 24.65.
  • Mimi Duffy claimed sixth in a personal-best 24.94.

Men’s 600m

  • Darius Smallwood won the race and lowered his NCAA No. 2 time this season to 1:15.45.
  • Kaleb Nastari finished third overall with a time of 1:18.34.
  • Jesufifunmi Olugbenga finished fifth in a personal-best 1:19.65.

Women’s 600m

  • Buchanan won the race in 1:33.07.
  • Ashley Pines finished second place with a personal-best time of 1:34.51.

Men’s 1000m

  • Nick Sloff earned the win in a personal-best 2:22.64.

Men’s 400

  • Austin Gallant earned the win in 47.19.
  • Onwuka took second overall with a time of 47.40.
  • Olivier Desmeules finished in third place overall in a personal-best 47.60.

Women’s 400m

  • Duffy finished third with a personal-best time of 56.54.

FIELD EVENT SUMMARY 

Women’s Weight Throw

  • Gabi Deglau finished in fifth place overall with a 56-8 (17.27m) heave.
  • Alex Pancoast finished in sixth place overall, going 56-5 ¼. (17.20m).

Women’s Long Jump

  • Multi-event athlete Maddie Pitts finished in third place overall, with a 18 - 6 ½ (5.68m) jump.
  • Madeleine Söderqvist finished in eighth place overall, with a 17-11 (5.46m) jump.
  • Allison Spalding finished in 14th overall, with a 16-11¼ (5.16m) leap.

Women’s Pole Vault

  • Gabriella Recce finished in second place, with a 13-1 ½ (4.00 m) clearance.

Men’s Weight Throw

  • Collin Burkhart finished in second place overall, with a season-best 65-9 (20.04m) throw.
  • Nathan Williams finished in third place overall, with a 63-6 ¾ (19.37m).

Women’s Shot Put

  • Allison Spalding placed ninth overall, with a 40-3 ½ (12.28m) mark.

Men’s Shot Put

  • On his last throw of the day, Dylan Lambrecht launched a 62-9 ¼ (19.13m) throw to claim fourth place in Penn State indoor history in the event. His mark ranks 18th in the NCAA this season and is the best effort by a Nittany Lion in the event since Darrell Hill set the school record in 2015.
  • Ryan Henry finished third overall, with a 60-2 (18.34m) toss.

Men’s Pole Vault

  • Tristian McGarrah finished in third place, with a 16-0 ¾ (4.90m) clearance.
  • Breckin Swope finished in fifth place, clearing a personal-best 15-7 (4.75m).

UP NEXT

The Nittany Lions will split their squad next weekend, with a select group attending the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston while the rest will travel to Clemson, S.C. on Friday, February 14 to compete in the Clemson Tiger Paw Invite.
