UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women’s gymnastics’ Elizabeth Leary was recognized as the Big Ten Women’s Gymnastics Freshman of the Week for her performance this past Sunday, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
Leary earned the conference’s weekly newcomer award thanks to her career-best 39.325 all-around performance at George Washington that included 9.8-plus scores on all four events. The Raleigh, N.C. native earned career-best 9.85 tallies on both balance beam and floor exercise while contributing a 9.825 on bars and a 9.8 on vault as the Nittany Lions put up their highest team score of their 2025 campaign. The freshman is Penn State’s highest point-scorer of the year as it heads into its final meet of the regular season.
The Penn State all-arounder picks up her first career Big Ten weekly accolade, earning the Nittany Lions’ first Big Ten weekly award of the season.
