The Johnnie-O at Sea Island Results
SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Penn State men’s golf sophomore Alex Creamean finished tied for fourth to pace the Nittany Lions at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island, which was shortened to two rounds and wrapped up Tuesday afternoon at the Sea Island Resort.
Penn State placed 13th in the 13-team field, finishing at 20-over, 580. The Nittany Lions shot a 19-over, 299, in the opening round, but rebounded strongly with a 1-over, 281, in the second round. The third round was cancelled and will not be completed.
Creamean collected his first top-five finish as a Nittany Lion, placing tied for fourth at 3-under, 137. He carded an even 70 in the opening round before shooting a 3-under, 67, in the second round. Creamean has now been Penn State’s top finisher in back-to-back events after leading the Nittany Lions in the Colleton River Collegiate two weeks ago.
Andres Barraza followed in a tie for 23rd place, coming in at 2-over, 142. He carded a 2-over, 72, in the first round before shooting an even 70 in the second round.
Zach Smith (78-74) and Will Preston (82-70) both finished tied for 69th at 12-over, 152. Jake Griffin (79-74) finished tied for 72nd at 13-over, 153.
Morgan Lofland, who played as an individual, placed tied for 67th at 11-over, 151, after shooting a 76 and a 75.
The Nittany Lions return to action April 4-6 at Vanderbilt’s Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn.
