UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) announced its Players of the Week on Monday afternoon with Penn State’s Tessa Janecke receiving Forward of the Week honors.
Janecke, an All-AHA First Team selection, dominated in the AHA Semifinals with four points on three goals and an assist.
She scored twice in the first period of game one, including a goal just 16 seconds into the game. In game two, the all-time points leader in Penn State history assisted on an Abby Stonehouse goal in the third period before scoring on an empty net with just under three minutes to go.
This is Janecke’s fourth weekly honor of the season, eighth of her career, with her last one coming on Jan. 27.
The Nittany Lions swept RIT in the AHA Semifinals on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1. The Blue and White took game one 3-2 before a 4-0 shutout to close out the series against the Tigers.
Penn State hosts the AHA Championship against Mercyhurst on Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m. at Pegula Ice Arena. The Nittany Lions are seeking their third consecutive AHA Championship.
