Karnes, Underhill Named CGA Regular Season All-Americans

Karnes earned the honors on Parallel Bars and High Bar, Underhill earned the spot on Rings

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – With dominant 2025 regular seasons in the rearview, and post seasons on the horizon, Penn State men’s gymnasts Josh Karnes and Matt Underhill have been named regular season All-Americans by the College Gymnastics Association (CGA) the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

Karnes, a senior from Erie, Pennsylvania, earns his sixth and seventh honors with the recognitions. Karnes finished the regular season ranked second in the country on Parallel Bars and fifth on High Bar. His 14.600 score on p-bars ranks as the second-best score in the nation this season, a score he tallied in the regular season finale against Nebraska to clinch a share of the Big Ten title.

Underhill, a junior from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, earned his second All-American honor with the recognition, both of which came on the still rings. Underhill finished the 2025 season with the nation’s eighth-best four-score average at 13.817. Underhill won six rings’ titles this season across nine meets.

The duo, alongside their teammates, were crowned Big Ten Regular Season Champions after besting Nebraska in the team’s final meet of the regular season. The win marked the first ever title clinch for the Nittany Lions, a recognition that began in 2019.
