The format of the championship is 54 holes and new this year is scored by a play five count four, a change from the previous format of play six count four that had been used prior to the addition of the west coast schools. The top four scores from each round will count toward the team total. Each round will feature split tees with tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 8:00 a.m. on Sunday.
All 18 Big Ten universities will be represented this week with Indiana looking to retain its 2024 Championship as the Hoosiers finished 8-under, just one stroke clear of second place Michigan State last year.
THE COURSE
- Named for the first thoroughbred racehorse brought to North America in the early 18th century, Bulle Rock has consistently been ranked as Maryland’s No. 1 public golf course since opening in 1998.
- The acclaimed Pete Dye design winds through 235 acres near the intersection of the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay and plays as a par-72, 6,235-yard course.
- Bulle Rock hosted five consecutive LPGA Championships (now known as the Women’s PGA Championship) from 2005-09, including Annika Sorenstam’s third consecutive victory in 2005 by three strokes over 15-year-old amateur Michelle Wie.

THE TEAM
- The Nittany Lions competing this weekend feature returners to Bulle Rock in Cox and Nienhaus along with junior Myranda Quinton (Burlington, Ontario) makes her second-consecutive start in the B1G Championships while newcomers Jiratchaya Jiratthitinun (Bangkok, Thailand) and Lauren Thompstone (Paris, France) round out the starting five.
- Jiratthitinun paces the team with a 72.93 stroke average having played in all 10 events this season notching three top-10’s including back-to-back at the Clemson Invitational (T-10th) and the Terps Invitational (T-7th).
- Nienhaus and Cox are right behind her with stroke averages of 73.32 and 73.76, respectively, with Nienhaus having registered a pair of top-10’s this season including tying for third at the Nittany Lion Invitational back in the fall.
