UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- Penn State women’s basketball head coach Carolyn Kieger signs 5-9 shooting guard Kiyomi McMiller to her 2025-26 roster. The Silver Spring, Md. native joins Penn State from across the border, playing her rookie campaign at Rutgers in 2024-25.
"We’re thrilled to officially welcome Kiyomi to our family," said head coach Kieger. "We recruited her really hard the first time around so we are thrilled for things to come full circle. From day one of the recruiting process, she showed maturity, hunger, and a relentless drive to be great. She’s been an absolute joy to connect with as we envision the future and how we will work together to create something special."
McMiller, had an impressive freshman season in Piscataway, averaging 18.7 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. She totaled 393 points, 98 rebounds and 63 assists through 21 games played last season. The standout guard made an immediate impact on the Big Ten, securing postseason All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors as selected by the media. She also garnered two Big Ten Freshman of the Week nods throughout the season. Additionally, on Dec. 17 she was named the All-MET Player of the Week as well as USBWA Tamika Catchings Freshman of the Week. McMiller’s scoring was staggering last year, totaling three performances with 30-or-more points and had seven, 20-plus-point outings.
Kieger added, "Kiyomi is a generational talent, a true creator with vision, flair, and instincts that are simply unmatched. Her game is electric, her mindset is elite, and what sets her apart is her unwavering desire to be one of the best to ever do it. She’s coming to Penn State on a mission, to help put this program back in the NCAA tournament, to hunt championships, and to leave a legacy."
A five-star recruit out of high school, McMiller was the 22nd ranked player in the nation by espnW. She was enrolled for her first two years at Trinity Collegiate School in Darrlington, S.C. where she averaged 27.1 points per game in her sophomore campaign. McMiller spent her final two seasons of high school basketball playing for Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J. The transfer put up astonishing numbers while playing for the Warriors, averaging 30.1 points per game, 5.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.8 steals. Throughout her two seasons she put up 2,015 points, totaled 437 rebounds, dished out 363 assists and posted 231 steals.
