UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men’s gymnastics advanced seven athletes to the Big Ten individual championships on Saturday evening. Four of the seven earned podium finishes in the Crisler Center, including event champion Josh Karnes, who won his second Big Ten parallel bars title, earning his third consecutive first team All-Big ten honor.
Karnes opened up the Nittany Lions competition on the pommel horse, posting a 13.425. Ethan Dick followed with a 12.525. The pair finished eighth and ninth overall on the apparatus.
Senior Michael Artlip finished his weekend on the floor, where he posted a 13.300 to finish eighth. Matt Cormier opened his individual finals with a 13.550 on floor, earning a podium finish in sixth place.
Junior Matt Underhill posted a 13.700 on his rings routine, good for sixth and a podium spot, while Ian Raubal, who finished atop the event in yesterday’s team finals, finished ninth overall with a 13.375.
Cormier opened up the second half of the evening with a 13.600 parallel bars routine. Karnes followed up his performance with a 14.450, a score that stood atop the p-bars leader board the rest of the meet and marked the sixth highest score of any apparatus on Saturday evening. Ian Raubal, who capped off the evening for the Nittany Lions, placed ninth on the parallel bars with a 13.350 routine.
Cormier also grabbed a podium finish with his 13.300 high bar routine to finish eighth. Akseli Karsikas was the lone other Nittany Lion to compete on the high bar. The sophomore put up a 13.575 to finish fifth overall and earn a spot on the podium.
The vault was the final rotation a Nittany Lion appeared on in Saturday’s individual finals. Underhill went seventh and finished tenth with a 13.550. Matt Cormier ended the day for the Nittany Lions with a 14.100 vault for his third podium finish at sixth place.

Penn State will take a week off before traveling back to Ann Arbor for the 2025 NCAA Championships. Competition is set to begin on Friday, April 18 and will continue through Saturday, April 19.
