COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Freshman Jiratchaya Jiratthitinun (Bangkok, Thailand) paced Penn State for the second-straight week with her second consecutive top-10 finish, third this season, in a tie for 7th at the Terrapin Invitational held at the University of Maryland Golf Course this week.
The Nittany Lions finished 35-over, 899, to tie Navy for eighth in the 14-team field. Penn State’s best round of the tournament came in the second round with a 5-over, 293, paced Jiratthitinun with a 1-under, 71, the lone round in red figures for the Nittany Lions.
Michigan separated themselves from the pack with a strong second round and held on for a seven-shot victory at 13-over, while High Point (20-over), Georgetown (21-over), Maryland (22-over) and Delaware (26-over) rounded out the top-five.

Jiratthitinun entered the final round just one stroke back of the leaders, but with rough conditions couldn’t gain any ground in the final round carding a 3-over, 75, to finish the week 2-over, 218, after registering rounds of 72 and 71 on Sunday.
“I was able to stick to my gameplan this week and just focus on one shot at a time,” mentioned Jiratthitinun. “I had full control over my game and I played things simple and easy to minimize risks.”
Senior Michelle Cox (Allentown, Pa.) carded three-straight rounds of 2-over, 74, to finish the week tied for 19th after moving up six spots during Monday’s final round. Playing as an individual freshman Lauren Thompstone (Paris, France) also tied for 19th at 6-over, 222, as she opened with a pair of 73’s on Sunday before carding a 4-over, 76, on Monday.
Senior Drew Nienhaus (St. Louis, Mo.) slide a bit in the final round finishing the week at 10-over, 226, and in a tie for 32nd while classmate Jami Morris (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) and freshman Gwendolyn Powell (Madison Township, Pa.) finished 18-over and 31-over, respectively.
